Teak deck care, natural and synthetic.
The deck takes more punishment than any other part of the boat. We clean and treat natural teak, synthetic teak and non-skid gelcoat per m², with the right method for each.
Request a quoteA well-kept teak deck is one of the most beautiful features a boat can have, and one of the quickest to deteriorate if treated badly. The sun turns it grey, the salt dries it out and over-aggressive cleaning wears the wood away.
RexMaris cares for natural teak, synthetic teak and non-skid gelcoat decks in Marina Palamós and Port d'Aro, priced per square metre, and we check the condition of the joints as we go.

Natural teak: clean without wearing it down
Teak should never be pressure-washed or scrubbed hard: it is cleaned across the grain with dedicated products, to lift the dirt without raising the soft fibres of the wood. It is then treated to restore its colour and protect it.
We check the seams as we work. A lifting seam lets water in under the planks, and catching it early avoids a far more expensive repair.
Synthetic teak
Synthetic teak doesn't turn grey or need oiling, but it still needs care: grease, stains and dirt settle in the grooves, and the sun takes its toll. We clean it with products suited to the material, with no solvents that could damage it, and check joints and edging.
Non-skid gelcoat
The raised non-skid pattern traps dirt and salt, and over time it loses grip. We clean it with the right product and brush to lift the dirt from deep in the pattern without harming the gelcoat.

Frequently asked questions
How often should teak be treated?
Frequent gentle cleaning, plus a treatment once or twice a year, depending on how much sun the boat gets and how it is used.
Can grey teak be restored?
Usually, yes. The grey is the oxidised surface layer; with the right cleaning and treatment the wood regains its colour.
Do you also look after synthetic teak decks?
Yes. We clean and care for synthetic teak and non-skid gelcoat decks, using products suited to each material.
How is the price calculated?
Per square metre and according to condition. We give you a fixed-price quote once we have seen the deck.
Looking after your boat should not be one more thing to worry about.
Tell us the basics about your boat and we will send you a fixed-price quote within 24 working hours. No obligation, and we never share your details with anyone.
